EMDR Therapy
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy designed to help people process and heal from distressing or traumatic experiences. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR focuses on how the brain stores and processes memories, helping reduce the emotional charge connected to past experiences.
When something overwhelming happens, the brain can get “stuck,” causing memories, emotions, or physical sensations to resurface long after the event has passed. EMDR works by using bilateral stimulation (such as guided eye movements) to help the brain reprocess these memories in a more adaptive way — allowing them to be integrated rather than relived.
Many people find EMDR helpful for:
Trauma and PTSD
Anxiety and panic
Childhood or relational wounds
Negative core beliefs
Emotional triggers that feel hard to explain
Experiences that still feel “present,” even though they’re in the past
At Modern Wellness, EMDR is approached thoughtfully and collaboratively. We prioritize safety, pacing, and trust — ensuring you feel grounded and supported throughout the process.
Interested in EMDR at Modern Wellness?
We are currently building our EMDR program and will be opening new EMDR therapy spots beginning Spring 2026.
If you’re interested in working with one of our EMDR-trained clinicians, we invite you to contact us to be added to our interest list. Joining the list does not commit you to treatment — it simply allows us to reach out when openings become available.
